1 Corinthians 2:16
Memory Verse
For who knows the mind of the Lord; the one knit together with Him? And we have a quality of the mind of Christ, 1 Corinthians 2:16.
Eye has not seen, nor ear heard what God has prepared for them who love Him. These things have now been revealed to those of the Church: the grace believers. When God raised Christ from the dead, He made a new man (2 Corinthians 5:17). Christ is the head, and the Church is the body (Ephesians 1:22–23). When a person believes that Christ died on behalf of our sins according to the Scriptures, and was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit washes, regenerates, and immerses him into the body of the Christ (Titus 3:4; 1 Corinthians 12:12–13).
The washing takes away our trespasses and sins; the regeneration is the result of God’s seed being placed in the believer, and therefore, he is born again (1 John 3:9; Colossians 2:13; Ephesians 1:7). This new birth occurs in the spirit of a man, which is his rational, logical center (1 Corinthians 2:11). The grace believer is now connected to God in his spirit and, when functioning from the spirit, is able to discern the things of God (1 Corinthians 6:17; 2:15).
Since the grace believer is placed into the body of the Christ, he is joined with Christ. Although many English translations use the word “instruct” in this passage, implying that it is a quote from Isaiah 40:13–14, the original word has a primary meaning of “to be knit together.” Instruct may only be used when the context indicated information is being knit together; however, the original word does not lose its primary meaning, even when used in this manner. When Saul returned to Damascus after three years in the wilderness learning from the resurrected Christ, he knit together the Scriptures proving that Jesus is the Messiah (Acts 9:22). After seeing a vision of a man from Macedonia and the Lord not opening a way into Asia for Paul, he knit together that the Lord tasked him to evangelize Macedonia (Acts 16:10). When it comes to the Church, we are knit together by Christ, who is the head (Ephesians 4:16; Colossians 2:19). As members of the body of the Christ, we are to be knit together in love (Colossians 2:2).
We of the Church are the ones who will be knit together with the Lord, for we have a quality of the mind of Christ, for we posses a renewed mind (Romans12:2), by which we are able to discern Spiritual things and thus live a life to the desirous will of God in the same manner as Christ, for we now are able to understand the things of God.
