1 Corinthians 3:10
Memory Verse
For no one is able to place another foundation alongside the one laid, which is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:10).
Some pursue theology in an attempt to lay a new foundation, but Scripture teaches it is impossible to set another foundation besides Christ. Christ alone is the foundation; ministers only build upon what is already established. Anyone who tries to introduce an alternative foundation apart from Jesus Christ must be rejected.
Given this truth, because there is no other foundation, whether a man plants or waters, his work is to be built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:8). As fellow workers, together we are God field, and God’s building (1 Corinthians 3:9). The one who plants and the one who waters are from God, for it is God who gives the increase, not men (1 Corinthians 3:7–8).
Therefore, this foundation is the basis for our faith. There is only one name given under heaven by which a man can be saved (Acts 4:12). In light of this, let our faith be in Christ, not men, for He is the one who died on behalf of sins and was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 1:13; 15:1–4).
