My little children, these things I write to you in order that you do not sin. And if someone sins, we have an advocate facing the Father–Jesus Christ the Righteous, (1 John 2:1).
From the very beginning, when a person bases his salvation on the fact that Christ died for our sins and was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, he is encouraged not to sin. For in Christ, he has been set free from the sin nature. However, if he does sin, God is righteous to cleanse him from his sins when he verbally agrees with God that his actions were lawlessness.
We can be restored to fellowship after we sin, for we have an Advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He intercedes on our behalf (Romans 8:34).
