The one loving his brother abides in the light, and there is no scandal in him (1 John 2:10).
When we are characterized as those who love the brethren, we take care to ensure that our actions do not scandalize others. This concern is especially valid regarding what a person has determined to be God’s expectations for their conduct regarding what they eat and the days they observe. The strong Christian understands that food, drink, and the observance of days do not impact our relations with God. However, those who are weak in their conscience will put arbitrary restrictions on themselves. A saint who is characterized as loving his brethren in the Lord will ensure to pay attention to the weaker brother so that he is not using his freedom to cause his brother to be scandalized and thus sin if he acts while doubting (Romans 14:13).
