But the one who is indifferent to his brother is in the darkness, and in the darkness he walks, and he does not intuitively know where he goes because the darkness blinds his eyes (1 John 2:11).
Darkness is the lack of light. Light represents the life of God in activity. Therefore, the man who is governing his life in darkness does not have fellowship with God. This type of lifestyle is blinded to the truth and manifests indifference towards fellow saints.
When divisions, selfish ambitions, strife, fornication, revelry, religious superstition, and any other work of the flesh are manifested in our lives, it is because we are not walking in the light. We are children of the light, and the darkness is passing away, for the day of our full redemption is closer than when we believed (Ephesians 5:8). Therefore, let us walk as sons of the light: in maturity working out the righteousness of Christ who now lives in us in our everyday conduct (1 Thessalonians 5:5).
