and the world is passing away and its strong desires, but the one doing the desirous will of God abides into the age (1 John 2:17).
The strong desires of the world change, for they are passing away. In contrast, the will of God does not change. The grace believer needs to know and abide by God’s desirous will for them.
The night is well spent, the day is upon us. Those who abide in God’s will now will feel at ease in the next age. An age is a period, not bound by time, through which God displays His character to intelligent beings for them to learn more about Him. In the next age, the Kingdom of God will be openly manifested on the earth, for resurrected saints will hold positions of authority in government, and righteousness will reign. During this age, God’s mercy and grace are displayed for all to see and understand.
Therefore, let us know and do the desirous will of God now, so that we are not tossed around by every wind of teaching by the trickery of men, following after the desires of the flesh and eyes, and are basing our conduct upon the pride of biological life, which are all things related to the world.
