Little children, it is the last hour and just as you all have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, from which we know it is the last hour (1 John 2:18). 

We do not want to mix up the antichrist with the man of lawlessness, who is the beast of Revelation and Daniel. The one who denies that Jesus is the Messiah is the antichrist (1 John 2:22). There are many still today who come denying who Jesus is, whether by bringing another Jesus or not holding a proper opinion of who He truly is—predominantly seen in many cults such as Mormons and Islam. 

These antichrists come out from the Church, but are not of the Church (1 John 2:19). They are the tares sown among the saints who seek to gain followers unto themselves. The savage wolves that will not spare the flock (Acts 20:29). Thus, unlike the man of lawlessness whom the Church will not even know, today we must deal with many antichrists.
