And He Himself is a satisfaction concerning our sins, and not only concerning our sins, but also concerning of the whole world (1 John 2:2).
Through His work on the cross, Christ made satisfaction (propitiation) concerning the righteousness of God in deferring the penalty of sin (Romans 3:25). Not only was God shown to be righteous in forgiving sins, but He is also righteous in restoring us to fellowship and continuing to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, for His righteousness in dealing with sin has been fully vindicated.
