Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, in order that we should be called the children of God, and we are. Because of this, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him (1 John 3:1). 

We are not adopted into God’s family—the word “adoptions” found in many English translations actually means “placed as a son” and has nothing to do with the concept of adoption. We are legitimately born ones of God, for His seed abides in us (1 John 3:9). 

During Christ’s earthly ministry, He granted those who accepted Him the authority to become children of God (John 1:12). Now, the Spirit bears witness with our spirits that we are the children of God (Romans 8:16). 

As children of God, let us become blameless and without wrong in the midst of the crooked and perverse generation we live among, shining as luminaries to the world the life of Christ that dwells in us (Philippians 2:15).
