Therefore, I encourage, first of all, to make supplication, worship, intercession, giving of thanks for the sake of all men, for the sake of kings and all those in preeminence, in order that we may lead a tranquil and well-ordered biological life in all godliness and dignity (1 Timothy 2:1–2).
Supplication involves a cry for help, worship is expressing who God is and what He has done, intercession is making a request on behalf of another, and thanksgiving is an attitude of gratitude towards God. This is the attitude the Church should have toward those who are without.
When our governments are filled with wicked men and women who usurp that law and cause suffering to obtain what others have, we are to communicate to God for their sake that perhaps they would see the truth and turn from their sins. When they are responsible, honest, and upright, we are still to communicate for their sake. The purpose of our communication is so that we may live a tranquil and well-ordered life.
A tranquil life is freedom from outward turmoil, strife, persecution, or governmental interference. A well-ordered life is free from turmoil, insubordination, and meddlesomeness.
This is what is proper and acceptable to God because He desires all men to be saved and come to a full experiential knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3–4). One mediator exists between God and man: Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:5). He gave Himself as a ransom for all (1 Timothy 2:6).
