Whose coming is according to working of Satan in all inherent ability and signs and wonders belonging to lying, and in all deception of unrighteousness to the ones perishing, on account of which they did not welcome the love of the truth for the purpose of saving them. 2 Thessalonians 2:9–10.
When the man of lawlessness comes, he will appear to be a great figure with many signs and wonders. His inherent ability, the signs accompanying his coming, and the great wondrous things he does, all are characterized by falsehood; through them, he will deceive the earth into rejecting God and following him.
Those who follow him will be deceived because they did not welcome the truth. This includes many who will still claim to be Christians but were not taken in the rapture, either because they did not believe the gospel for salvation or because their faith was without purpose—trusting in their nation or family heritage, relying on church attendance or community works, or merely conforming to the crowd because that is what everyone else does. When they stand before Christ, He will declare, “Depart from Me, for I never knew you.”
Have you heard the gospel—that Christ died on behalf of our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures—yet do not want to believe just yet? Do you want to believe but are concerned it means your lifestyle must change? Do you think that becoming a Christian means you can no longer enjoy the things you love? Perhaps you are waiting until you hear the trumpet of God to finally believe? In essence, are you saying that the love of the truth is not something you welcome? Would you rather, knowingly, live a lie? This is the reality of such a mindset, and all who hold to it will perish.
Now is the time of reconciliation, for when the man of lawlessness comes, there will be no salvation for those who did not welcome the truth.
