Because of this, take up the whole armor of God, in order that you are able to withstand in the malignantly evil day, and having worked out all, to stand (Ephesians 6:13).
Since our wresting is not of flesh and blood, we are to put on the whole armor of God when we are being attacked. This attack is an attempt to sway our thinking through using Satan’s methodologies to get us to act independently from God. When we identify such a thought of this nature in our mind attempting to impose a strong desire, we are to respond by putting on the whole armor.
Putting on the whole armor is a mental exercise that we go through to align our thinking with God’s and reject the thoughts imposed upon us by our enemy. It is necessary to put on the whole armor because he may change tactics—beginning with disappointment and then shifting to lying, discouragement, or bitterness. When we put on the whole armor, we are ready to defend ourselves against all of his methods, not merely the one with which he is currently attacking us.
