Galatians 5:6
Memory Verse
For in Christ circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love (Galatians 5:6).
The Christ is the new creation. In this creation, Christ is the head, and the Church is the body (Ephesians 1:22–23). The new creation is not the believer. Instead, it is the new man God created when He raised Christ from the dead (2 Corinthians 5:17—the new creation is Christ). In Christ, the believer is counted as righteous (1 Corinthians 1:30). Therefore, the Christian lives by grace, not by law.
The one who seeks to be righteous through law has fallen from grace. His position in Christ does not affect his life. This is because he is not taking God at His Word. However, our hope is not in our righteousness. Instead, it is the hope of righteousness that is out from faith (Galatians 5:5).
Righteousness comes from faith, not law. So, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has strength. The Christian does not live by law, but by grace. This lifestyle is based on God’s word, not on trying to keep a standard for being declared righteous.
