Genesis 3:21
Memory Verse
And the Lord God made for Adam and his wife tunics of skin, and clothed them (Genesis 3:21).
Although not explicitly stated, this was the first sacrifice, which was not for sin—since the Mosaic law had not yet been implemented—but as a peace offering to God. Following the example of this act, Abel chose to offer a peace offering to God, taking the firstborn of his flock, understanding that its value lies not in self-effort or works, but in God’s mercy (Genesis 4:4).
God made a covering for Adam and his wife to cover their nakedness, rejecting the covering they made from the leaves of a fig tree. This covering supplied what they needed, giving them protection and proper concealment.
