Genesis 3:22
Memory Verse
And the LORD God said, “Behold, Adam has become like One of us to know good and evil. And now, lest he stretch out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat and live into the age.”
In the midst of the garden, along with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the LORD also planted a tree that sustains physical life (Genesis 2:9). Adam and Eve, who were roughly one hundred years old, did not need to partake of this tree up to this point in their lives. Now that they are subject to physical death, partaking of this tree would prolong their lives into the age. The LORD recognizes the problem with this and, out of mercy, kicks them out of the garden and protects the entrance with a Cherub to ensure no demon could manipulate a human to gain access and partake from the tree.
Currently, the tree of life is in Paradise, at the edge of the third heaven, where all of the saints before the Church reside, waiting for the manifestation of the fully resurrected Church (Revelation 2:7; 2 Corinthians 12:4). In the Millennial Kingdom, the leaves from the tree will heal the nations (Revelation 22:2).
