Genesis 4:7
Memory Verse
If you do good, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do good, the sin lies at the opening, and its desire is unto you, and you are to rule over it (Genesis 4:7).
Cain offered the works of his hands to God; an offering that was not out from faith. Abel, his brother, made an offering out from faith. The Lord did not look at Cain’s offering as He passed by, as He did towards Abel’s offering. This caused Cain to become angry (Genesis 4:5–6).
The Lord instructs Cain concerning the rules of the household he is in. If he does good, then he will be accepted, but if he does wrong, then the sin lies at the opening. The sin is a reference to the sin nature, which desires to rule over a man. Now that mankind possesses the knowledge of good and evil, they are responsible to seek good and rule over their desires from the sin nature to do wrong.
