Genesis 6:3
Memory Verse
And the LORD said, “My Spirit will not judge with men forever, for in that he is flesh, and his days will be one hundred and twenty years.” Genesis 6:3.
Man’s lifespan is going to be substantially reduced due to his wickedness. At this point, men live for a very long time. Adam lived to the age of nine hundred and thirty years (Genesis 5:5). This is a difficult concept for us to understand today, because our lifespan is not permitted to exceed one hundred and twenty years. However, when God created Adam, he was not created for death. Physical death is a result of Adam’s sin, which he passed down to all humans (Romans 5:12).
Noah was five hundred years old when he had three sons (Genesis 5:32). Shortly after, God instructed him build an ark because of the flood that was coming upon the earth. When the flood came, Noah was six hundred years old (Genesis 7:6). During the one hundred years of building the ark, Noah proclaimed righteousness among the people, but no one responded to his message. Therefore, eight souls were saved from the ancient world (2 Peter 2:5).
