Genesis 6:5
Memory Verse
Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and all the formation of the intent of his heart was evil all the day (Genesis 6:5).
Rather than seeking God and desiring to do good, our ancestors before the flood chose the way of Cain, desiring nothing more than to do wrong. At this time, it has been approximately seventeen hundred years since Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden for disobeying God’s commandment. During this time, God did not leave Himself without a witness. Cain, who was the steward of this dispensation, was specifically instructed by God to do good and rule over the desires from his sin nature (Genesis 4:7). If they sought God, He would walk with them (Hebrews 11:6).
Although humans possess the knowledge of good and evil; thereby, a conscience, the conscience alone proves to be insufficient for overcoming the desires from the sin nature to do wrong (Romans 2:15). Along with the fallen angels, who sought to corrupt the seed of the woman by forcibly taking some and propagating abominations through them, all of the humans at this time also sought out what was wrong. This was a very violent world, but not one of war. This type of violence is about taking advantage of others and devouring those who stumble.
