Hebrews 1:4
Memory Verse
For to which of the angels did He say at some time, “You are My son, today I have begotten you?” and again, “I will be to him as a father, and he will be to Me as a son?”
Jesus is not a created being. He is the second Person of the Godhead, who wrapped Himself in flesh to do the will of God the Father (Philippians 2:5–8). At no time did God say to any of the angels, “You are my son.” When He brought the firstborn into the world, He said, “Let all the angels of God worship Him” (Hebrews 1:6; Psalm 97:7).
The Son is the One who created the angels; thus, God is the Father of the angels (Colossians 1:16). Therefore, at no time would God say to an angel, “I will be like a father to you.” However, to the second Person of the Godhead, He said, “I will be as a father to you.” This is a reference to Christ’s relationship with the Father, not His existence. God the Father is not the source of God the Son. They are both equally God and have always existed together as One (John 1:1).
The Father begat the humanity of Christ through the Holy Spirit coming upon a virgin to produce His body (Luke 1:35). Since Jesus is God in the flesh, the angels worship Him, for He has a name that is more excellent than theirs (Hebrews 1:4). God shares His glory with no one; therefore, since God the Father instructed the angels to worship the Son, the Son must be God in the flesh (Isaiah 42:8).
