Hebrews 2:5
Memory Verse
For He did not subject the inhabited world to come to the angels, concerning which we speak (Hebrews 2:5).
In the new heavens and the new earth, angels will no longer hold positions of authority (Revelation 21:1). In the inhabited world we live in now, angels hold positions of authority with the government of God (Colossians 1:16).
When Christ was raised from the dead, God placed Him above the authority of the angels (Ephesians 1:21; Colossians 2:10). Christ’s kingdom has no end; therefore, in the new heavens and new earth, authority is not given to the angels, but to resurrected men ( Luke 1:33; Hebrews 12:23).
Satan also arranges his angels after the same order, placing them in positions of authority in his world system (Ephesians 6:12). They influence the governments of the world to follow Satan’s course while rejecting God (Ephesians 2:2).
Christ disarmed these authorities because He was raised from the dead (Colossians 2:15); therefore, not even they can separate us from the things to come (Romans 8:38).
