Hebrews 3:3
Memory Verse
For this one is counted worthy of more glory than Moses, according to as much as the one having built the house has more honor than the house, Hebrews 3:3.
Moses was a faithful household servant in his dispensation (Hebrews 3:5). The administration of law was the fifth household made by God. The purpose of a household—dispensation—is to show something to mankind about himself. Each steward of the household dispenses the household’s rules. When a house fails, judgment comes upon it, ending the household. This does not affect the promises of God; only the rules for the household and those included in the household are impacted. After a dispensation ends, a new one is established with a new steward and different rules. The dispensation of law was governed by the Mosaic law, whereas those in the administration of grace conduct themselves as sons of God by grace, out from faith. Thus, those of this present household possess all things pertaining to life and godliness. This enables them to walk in a righteous manner, using the positions and possessions they have in Christ, apart from law and fleshly-based works.
Moses was faithful in his household; however, Christ, as a Son, is over His own house (Hebrews 3:6). Christ is not the steward of the house, but the master. He is the one who built the house. Through the desirous will of God, Paul was appointed as the steward of our dispensation, Ephesians 3:2. Therefore, since we hold fast the confidence and rejoicing of hope in Christ, our promises are firm.
