Hebrews 4:14
Memory Verse
Therefore, having a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens: Jesus the Son of God, let us grasp hold of the confession, Hebrews chapter 4 verse 14.
There is great significance in the fact that Jesus passed through the heavens. Only God can go beyond the third heaven, above the glory clouds. The Second Person of the Godhead displayed that He is, in fact, fully God by taking His humanity and passing through the heavens into the place where only God resides—outside of this universe.
In his fall, Lucifer not only sought to place his throne in the third heaven alongside God’s throne, but also desired to go beyond this universe, above the height of the clouds, Isaiah chapter 14 verses 13 and 14. Because of his sin, he was cast out of the government of God, Ezekiel chapter 28 verse 16.
Since we have such a High Priest, we are to grasp hold of the confession. The confession is the verbal agreement with God that Jesus, Who is God in the flesh, died on behalf of our sins according to the Scriptures and was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verses 3 and 4. Therefore, He now sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest according to the Melchizedek’s priestly order, Hebrews chapter 5 verse 10.
