James 1:26
Memory Verse
If anyone among you thinks he is religious, not bridling his tongue but deceiving his heart, the religion of this one is useless (James 1:26).
James uses a word for religion that focuses on the outward appearance of a person. If someone supposes himself to be religious, then his actions must demonstrate a clean and unpolluted religion before God. He must also be a man who controls his tongue, or else he deceives himself, and his religious appearance is useless.
Let us be diligent concerning the things we wear that indicate we are a Christian, so that our actions line up with our declaration, and a proper opinion of our Lord is represented through our conduct.
