James 5:15
Memory Verse
And the vow of faith will save the mentally weary, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sin, it will be forgiven him (James 5:15).
The original word in this verse translated as “sick” is not referring to a physical sickness as in James 5:14. The type of sickness in James 5:15 is a conscience issue that is affecting the mind. Hebrews 12:3 uses this same word to encourage people not to grow mentally weary with doing good, and Revelation 2:3 uses it to praise people for not growing mentally weary in patience and labor.
A vow is communication to God to fulfill a task you have committed to perform. For a Christian, this type of prayer only relates to a mental issue caused by a violation of one’s conscience. Therefore, the vow relates to restoring a wrong. If the Lord permits, the saint who has made a vow is to fulfill it. Therefore, when a vow is made, you must begin immediate provisioning to ensure the fulfillment of the commitment.
Through the vow of faith, the one who is mentally weary will be saved from that state of mind, and God will forgive any sin that the person committed that brought about the mental weariness.
