Memory Verse
For in this manner the God loved the world, so that He gave His one-of-a-kind Son in order that all the ones believing in Him should not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16).
Love is seeking the best for another. God the Father’s love towards the world gave us salvation, for through the giving of His Son, our sins would be washed away. The One the Father gave is the one-of-a-kind Son, for there is no one like Him. He is the second person of the Godhead, who for His love of the Father wrapped Himself in flesh and fulfilled the desirous will of the Father to bring us salvation (John 1:1, 14; Hebrews 10:9).
The salvation offered through the Son is also unique. Those who believe in the Son will gain eternal life. Eternal life is God’s quality of life and enables those who believe to live in a righteous manner. This type of life is possible because God places His seed in the believer (1 John 3:9)—the believers are those who believe that Christ died on behalf of our sins and was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3–4). Therefore, all those who have the Son, have eternal life (1 John 5:12).
Salvation comes by believing in Christ’s death for sin and resurrection three days later.
