Revelation 1:3
Memory Verse
Happy is the one who reads and the ones who hear the words of this prophecy and guard the things written in it, for the time is near (Revelation 1:3).
The book of Revelation informs Jesus Christ’s servants about coming events. It is not a book of fear. Through this revelation, grace believers understand future events, leading to happiness.
This happiness comes from knowing the Church will not face the tribulation period, as they are not appointed unto wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9). God will also return to destroy the world’s wickedness (Psalm 2:8–9), bind Satan for a thousand years (Revelation 20:2), and establish a kingdom of righteousness (Matthew 13:41).
This happiness is not a joy over destruction, but a sense of well-being from knowing our future. Since mature love casts out fear, using Revelation to induce fear in believers shows a lack of love (1 John 4:18).
With this understanding, Revelation does not cause anxiety in grace believers, as nothing can separate them from God’s love in Christ (Romans 8:39), and they are appointed to salvation, not wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9).
