The night is far advanced, indeed the day is near. Therefore, let us lay aside the works of darkness and clothe ourselves with the instruments of light (Romans 13:12).
The wickedness of this world is coming to an end. Those who belong to the night walk in revelry, drunkenness, licentiousness, lusts, strife, and envy. Their minds are corrupt, and they work out their dishonor in their bodies among themselves, for they exchange the truth of God for the lie. They will receive the penalty due for their error. But our Lord has rescued us out from darkness into His marvelous light.
The instruments of light pertain to the breastplate of faith and love, along with the helmet of salvation. Let us take God at His word, seek the best for other saints, and wrap our minds in the reality that we belong to Him. We who were once darkness are now light in the Lord. Therefore, let us conduct our lives as those who belong to the light—putting away the shameful deeds of darkness and awakening from our slumber—for the day of our Lord is quickly approaching.
