But I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord, so then I myself with the mind serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin (Romans 7:25).

After explaining the frustration he experienced in trying to subdue the sin nature through law—even though the Mosaic Law is rational—Paul concludes that when he serves God with his mind, he is able to follow the law of God. However, when he attempts to abide by the Mosaic Law, the sin nature deceives him and brings him into subjection, thereby producing death—that is, a separation from the ability to live out righteousness.

One aspect of our salvation is that we are born again in our spirit. This new birth enables us to comprehend spiritual matters when we utilize the renewed mind we possess in Christ. This mindset produces righteousness apart from the Law, thereby fulfilling the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
